The news warned of a high wind storm. I woke early to take care of Baby J. I heard the wind just howl. In fact in got louder and louder. I felt as if I was at the airport listening to the airplanes take off. I have never heard the wind like that before. I woke Brian up. He checked on things around the house.
I really didn't sleep much after that. I kept hearing the wind. Occasionally C would stir. We checked on the boys.
Brian got the boys started in the morning routine to give me a few extra minutes. I came upstairs to the boys looking out the window. SOmetime after 7:15am this morning our neighbors' large pine tree was blown over by the wind. My mom has worried about this tree for years. She feared it would fall on our house, bedroom windows. In fact she refused to park in front of my house when visiting. Well someone visiting our neighbor parked in front of our house. When the tree fell down it barely missed the car. My my! One of our neighbors was out taking pictures. I threw on a pair of jeans and ran out with my camera. MY MY it was chilly and so so windy. One of the neighbors said she'd call the nonemergency line.
The tree was completely uprooted! I took a few pictures, buddled the boys and took BAJA to school. The wind was horrible driving the short distance on the freeway to BAJAs school. THe wind was strong.
I returned and took a few more pictures. I had Brian stand in the hole where the tree had once been firmly rooted.
Around 10am crews came to clear the road. About 4 men with chainsaws. Two dump trucks and a cherry picker and bulldozer. C was VERY excited and Jonathan wasn't quite sure why we kept looking out the window. Several other trees in our neighborhood had caused some minor damage to homes. There were other trees damaged.
When the wind roared last night. I thought of Isaiah and the Bible how he described our modern marvels using nature. This must be what he was trying to convey. I marveled. Early this morning I said a prayer to protect our little home and boys. I am Counting my Blessings today that we are all safe.
I'm sad though for our neighbor and his tree that succombed to the wind. Makes me think of making sure to set down strong deep roots to withstand the wind.

I really like your thoughts on putting down deep roots to withstand the wind. Thank you for sharing that. That was one HUGE pine tree!!
ReplyDeleteChristine, I sent you an invite to my blog since it is private. Anyway, that wind was sure crazy. Good thing that car survived! I am loving Isaiah more since last night when I was writing up scriptures that back my testimony. Isaiah has become so much less intimidating to me since last night. His prophesies of the Savior are beautiful.
