One of the traditions is to attend the Festival of Trees. In high school I decorated trees for the festival. Later when I worked at Primary Childrens trees purchased by the foundation decorated the hospital. To enrich some of the children's lives while in the hospital I'd take some of the kids on wagon rides or wheelchair rides around the hospital to see the trees. Perhaps that's why I love Christmas trees. (and why I decorate 6 yikes in my house :)
This year we decided to visit the festival in the evening. Hmmm probably won't do that again we'll stick with during the day. We had a lot of fun. BAJA liked watching the performers too,
One of our friends rom the National Families Supporting Adoption board entered a gingerbread house. Each side of the house was decorated with the theme "A home for all children" representing Japan for international adoptions, foster care, family (kinship adoptions) and domestic adoptions.
When I was helping the babies, Brian noticed how BAJA was fascinated by the string of lights grouped together for a tree. LOVE his curiosity!!
A few more activities we've done is visit Christmas street (um major fail) so we visited Twas the Night Before Christmas street in Taylorsville which BAJA declared "Now this IS a Wintry Wonderland" His goal next year is to make our house a wintry wonderland outside :)
We also have visited the Bible Story and read all the verses for our Family Home Evening.
We're looking forward to decorating gingerbread houses, Breakfast with Santa, Christmas Eve dinner, and Temple Square Lights. LOVE traditions!!!
